The Music Ministry of St. Charles strives to provide opportunity for those members of our faith community to share their God-given talents in leading our families in sung prayer and praises at the weekend Masses and special Holy Days, as well as Sacramental celebrations: First Holy Communion and Confirmation. We encourage especially young people who are in music programs at their schools (i.e. choir and band) to participate in these music ministries. It will strengthen their confidence and proficiency in sight-reading as they share their talent with the praying community!
PARISH CHOIR is our family choir and will be open to all who love to sing. Reading music is not required. This choir will sing at the Sunday, 9:30 am Mass . Rehearsals are held on Thursdays at 7:00 pm and 45 minutes prior to the Sunday morning Mass.
ARISE Singers is our Youth Contemporary Ensemble that is open to High School singers and instrumentalists. Reading music is strongly desired as these singers and musicians hone their ability to harmonize and sight-read. This especially helps those who compete in UIL and other music competitions in their school music programs. There is an audition for this ensemble. The ensemble provides music for the Sunday 11:30 am Mass, Confirmation and other Youth liturgies. Rehearsals are held on Thursdays at 6:00 pm on Thursdays and 45 minutes prior to the Sunday morning Mass.
MICAH 6:8 Singers is our Contemporary Ensemble for singers and instrumentalist (High School and up). Reading music is strongly desired. There is an audition for this ensemble. This ensemble provides music for the Saturday, 4:30 Mass and Sunday, 9:30 am Mass. Rehearsals are held on Thursdays at 7:00 pm and 45 minutes prior to the weekend Masses.
CHARLIE’S ANGELS is our Children’s Choir. This choir will resume with Religious Education. This choir is open to singers who are in 3rd grade thru 7th grade. This choir will sing at the Sunday, 11:30 am Mass on the First Sunday of every month. Rehearsals are held on Thursdays at 5:00-5:45pm.
SONS OF GOD IS OUR Men’s Ensemble. Reading music is not required. Men of all ages (High School and up) are invited to raise their voices in praise. Guitars and other instrumentalist are welcome. This ensemble will provide music at the Sunday, 9:30 Mass on the Third Sunday of each month. Rehearsals are held at 7:00pm on the Tuesday prior to the Third Sunday. HANDBELL CHOIR provides angelic sounds to our sacred celebrations – especially in the Christmas and Easter seasons. Ability to read music is strongly desired and makes it easier for the participant to learn the method of handbells. Rehearsals will be held on Tuesdays at 5:15 pm beginning in the Fall. CANTORS proclaim the Responsorial/Psalm and Gospel Acclamation. This position requires reading music.
